Paris' Sports Center for Kids

Designed by Paris-based KOZ Architects, and coexisting with several older educational buildings and a residential development, the 1,600 square-meter facility is unexpected and bold in its riotous use of colors both inside and out. A more typical an approach for this type of neighborhood would have been a structure that vanishes into its surroundings. The funhouse by KOZ has turned into a favorite of kids, parents and teachers, as the facility was planned and its wild colors used in specific ways that fosters the intended functions -- play and sports – and not just to shock or delight. Whyred Riding Boot

This riding boot by Whyred has us thinking of all kinds of looks put to together. As a matter of fact, it reminds us of Prada F/W 2009 collection. We can see these boots being paired with boots, skirts and being worn over jeans with a long sweater. The shoe can be very versatile as you can wear it with many looks. Available at La Garconne

Our New Favorite Designer: Duro Olowu

Fun, colorful, flirty, fresh and clean are just some descriptions to describe Duro Olowu's S/S 2010 collection. Prints, graphics and draping are key elements in his collection. To be honest, we just discovered him while reading our Fashion Indie newsletter. We were so excited because we fell like we just discovered something great. Mr. Olowu was born in Nigeria, Olowu first started out as a lawyer before delving into fashion. His signature "Duro" dresses, with the empire waist billowing and the vivid prints, caught the eye of US and British Vogue. He eventually won "New Designer of the Year" in 2005 at the British Fashion Awards. He is influenced by both Nigeria and England in his designs, what with the innovative London and the culture of Lagos, his hometown. More images via Style

HOT SHOE ALERT!!! This shoe is a perfect example of a transitional sandal. A transitional sandal is a sandal that can be worn in the summer as well as the fall. For some reason, m fashion intuition is telling me this is the perfect shoe to wear over socks or stockings. Via Antionioli

Opening Ceremony and Spike Jonze

In celebration of the movie, that was adapted from the classic children's book, Where the Wild Things Are, director Spike Jonze collaborated with Opening Ceremony to create a limited collection that was inspired by the film. This collection has some interesting pieces. Some pieces are a little far fetched but others were completely wearable and fits with in the trends of the season. We love the concept of a director collaborating with a clothing line. After all, fashion is, often, inspired by film.

Kudu Brogued from Lodger Footwear

We came across this hot shoe while auditing our email account. This fine piece of craftsmanship comes from the London based, luxury shoe company Lodger Footwear. According to their website,

This boot is made from an antique leather. The leather in this boot was made in a tannery that closed down more than 20 years ago. It is made from an African antelope called Kudu, and tanned in a unique way. The raw hide is shrunk to make it tighter and tougher, then tumbled to bring up the natural texture of the leather, and finally treated with a light embossing that further highlights the rough grain of the Kudu.

It seems like a lot of thought and time went into the shoe and quite frankly, it shows. Perfect for fall...just perfect!!

Manolo Blahnik's Ligaro Hiking Heel

As I was reading the September issue of Vogue Magazine, I came across this gem stone and I have to say is "DYNO-MITE"...This updated version of the Manolo Blahnik's Timberlands has an open toe, cotton laces and a lizard skin texture that is to die for (NO PUNN INTENDED). This version is much more classic, not trendy. With a price of $1,595, this definitely has to an investment piece.

Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture

Luxury and art have never been more closely linked than they are in these early years of the twenty-first century. Virtually all the world’s major luxury houses have associated themselves with contemporary art through sponsorships, commissions, or foundations, and these points of exchange nourish the increasingly symbiotic relationship between fashion, art, and other design disciplines. Of all modern luxury brands, Louis Vuitton can claim to maintain the richest and most varied associations with the world of art. Included in this volume are Louis Vuitton’s important collaborations with an elite group of artists, architects, designers, and photographers. VIA Amazon

In celebration of the book, Louis Vuitton partnered with artist Camille Scherrer to create this animated film.

Chukar Chandeliers by Yeni Mao

Having this chandelier in your home will definitely make a statement.

Chukar Chandelier illustrates the story of desire surrounding the Indian myth of the chukar, a bird to South Asia and the national bird of Pakistan, which is said to be in love with the moon and to gaze at it continuously. For this stunning chandelier, 110 brilliant chukar skulls are arranged in hanging flock formation. At once elegant and macabre, these bronze skulls plated in 14-karat gold provide an allegory for the loss and disconnection experienced in human immigrations, a central theme to Mao's work that addresses the complications of cultural hybridization, correlating human social behavior and functions of natural systems.VIA Artware
